The viral video, initially mistaken for a genuine leak, was actually part of a social experiment. On November 25, an official Twitter/X account under the name [ZapActu GTA6](https://x.com/zapactugta6/) raised alarm with an “EXTREMELY SERIOUS SITUATION” announcement, sharing what seemed to be leaked footage of *GTA 6*’s character Lucia exploring the game’s world. The video displayed advanced features like a dynamic weather system and realistic non-playable characters, impressing viewers despite being entirely fabricated. The post containing the video has since been removed.
According to [*IGN*](https://www.ign.com/articles/amid-backlash-creator-of-viral-gta-6-gameplay-leak-video-insists-it-was-an-experiment-designed-to-show-how-easy-it-has-become-to-blur-the-line-between-reality-and-ai-generated-content), Zap Actu GTA6 faced backlash on Discord following the exposure of their hoax, prompting them to clarify their intentions. They explained that the AI-generated videos were an experiment to showcase how effortlessly reality and AI creations can be intertwined in today’s digital landscape, emphasising that no harm was intended by their actions.
In a less remorseful tone shared with *IGN*, Zap Actu admitted, “It was all in good fun; I did it for community entertainment. Apologies for any false expectations.” This tactic of “revealing a flaw by committing the flaw” is a familiar excuse used throughout history.
Considering their deep involvement in *Grand Theft Auto* news coverage, it is surprising that Zap Actu expressed astonishment at the overwhelming response to their video, given the scarcity of authentic updates on *GTA 6* in recent years.
Despite claiming no financial gain from the fake leaks, Zap Actu maintains an active “X Premium” account. With the increasing influx of AI-generated content on platforms like Twitter, instances of deceptive *GTA 6* material passing as authentic are expected to rise.
