Adobe Acrobat can now generate podcasts from your PDFs, as Express adds more AI features

Adobe has introduced several AI-driven functionalities that are being implemented in Acrobat and Express, including the capacity to transform files into audio podcasts. Here are the specifics.

In recent weeks, Adobe has been rolling out numerous updates connected to AI, such as integrations with ChatGPT in Photoshop, Acrobat, and Express, along with support for GPT-Image 1.5 in Firefly.

Today, the company unveiled several new AI-enhanced features that will be available in Acrobat and Express:

By utilizing the new ‘Generate presentation’ tool, users can now instruct the AI to produce a comprehensive presentation based on the content of a single document or multiple documents.

In their own words, Adobe explains: Imagine you are a small business owner aiming to secure a new client. Gather your data — financial reports, product descriptions, competitive analysis, and web pages — within PDF Spaces, an AI-fueled knowledge repository within Acrobat that enables you to extract actionable insights from files and links while facilitating seamless collaboration. Request the AI Assistant to evaluate this information and generate a pitch presentation highlighting the client’s key pain points and how your company can provide solutions.

According to Adobe, the AI Assistant will first generate an outline before creating the full presentation according to user-specified tone, length, and design preferences.

Adobe states that Acrobat and Express collaborate behind the scenes to craft the presentation. Once the initial draft is ready, users can make further adjustments to the content, replace images, modify fonts, and even add animations to enhance the final slide before sharing it with colleagues.

This feature is highlighted as one of today’s most straightforward additions. Users can now input their commands for tasks like page removal, text adjustments, comment insertion, or image editing; Acrobat’s integrated AI Assistant will handle these tasks efficiently.

Essentially, despite the perceived complexities of PDF editing by some users, the prompt-based interface is designed to streamline operations by simplifying tasks like adding e-signatures, setting passwords, and executing other advanced functions.

Alongside this feature update, Adobe also introduces a new Help Panel offering clear guidance through step-by-step instructions and chat-based troubleshooting support.

Arguably one of today’s most practical features is introduced here. It empowers users to import documents into PDF Space and task Adobe’s AI Assistant with transforming that content into a podcast-style summary for convenient listening on-the-go.

While it may not always substitute for reading lengthy documents in full detail, this method proves practical for gaining familiarity with a topic swiftly especially when dealing with dense or lengthy material that may be challenging to absorb entirely at once.

In addition to these capabilities, Adobe highlights some additional practical applications for this feature: The Generate podcast function in Acrobat offers opportunities for personal enrichment as well. For instance, convert educational manuals into hands-free audio tutorials about gardening or stay informed about local and global events through a tailor-made daily news podcast. Simplify family organization by consolidating school newsletters, event calendars, and consent forms into a brief weekly audio briefing that keeps everyone updated while on-the-go.

Furthermore, Adobe is enabling multiple users to collaborate on shared projects within PDF Spaces.

This functionality allows teams to collaborate on a common set of documents by adding files, leaving notes, and engaging in discussions within a centralized workspace.
