Players of Battlefield 6 suspect that they have found indications suggesting that the game incorporates AI-generated art. Some are speculating that certain aspects of the art present in player emblems within Battlefield 6 may have been produced, to some extent, using generative AI systems. However, there is currently no solid evidence to support this claim, and neither Electronic Arts nor the game’s developers have made any statements regarding this matter.
Observers have highlighted certain anomalies in the artwork. GameSpot has reached out to EA in an effort to obtain more information about the situation.
In a previous statement from October, DICE GM Rebecka Coutaz mentioned that EA’s teams utilize generative AI during the initial phases of development to allow for greater creativity and flexibility. Nonetheless, she clarified that Battlefield 6 does not contain any content generated by gen AI. Despite this, she expressed optimism about the potential of this technology overall.
Coutaz emphasized the potential benefits of integrating AI into game development processes by stating, “If we can enhance our innovation and creativity with AI, it will be advantageous.”
Developer Fasahat “Fas” Salim encouraged people not to fear the adoption of generative AI in game development. He disclosed ongoing plans to explore optimal ways to incorporate this technology into future development pipelines. He added, “It’s crucial to determine how we can effectively integrate it into our workflows and leverage it to elevate our games.”
Coutaz also described the use of generative AI for game creation as “extremely appealing.”
The enthusiastic endorsement of AI by EA developers comes as no surprise, given that key executives at the company, including CEO Andrew Wilson, believe that such tools will benefit EA in the long term.
Wilson has acknowledged that increased adoption of AI technologies may result in job displacement initially but anticipates that it will ultimately generate more job opportunities than those lost over time.
Previously, EA Sports acknowledged that CFB 25’s success might not have been possible without developers utilizing machine learning and AI technologies.
Beyond EA’s scope, Sony has employed AI tools for game development for several years and attributes machine learning systems for accelerating the development process of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Developers involved in Battlefield’s competitor Call of Duty openly admitted their use of generative AI to facilitate their development process.
The conversation surrounding AI in gaming was reignited recently following controversial remarks made by Larian boss Swen Vincke.
Moreover, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 faced the removal of one of its Game of the Year awards due to issues related to AI.
Battlefield 6 stands out as 2025’s top-selling game thus far in the US market, surpassing even Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
