Qualcomm has reported an increase in revenue in double digits, driven by the demand for AI technology in various types of devices, and is optimistic about capturing a significant market share with its Snapdragon processors in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The company is anticipating a robust performance in the first quarter. The financial results for FY Q4 were disclosed on November 5, revealing a 10% rise in quarterly revenue to $10.27 billion and a 13% annual growth to $44.14 billion. The surge in sales was mainly due to the successful introduction of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, particularly boosting headset sales, while the Automotive segment experienced substantial revenue gains. Ending the fiscal year on a positive note, Qualcomm achieved a 10% year-over-year revenue growth, reaching $11.3 billion in FY Q4, largely driven by the robust performance of its QCT division. Notably, headset sales surged by 14% to nearly $7 billion, predominantly fueled by the popularity of Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets for top-tier Android smartphones. Moreover, revenue from Automotive and IoT sectors escalated by 17% and 7%, respectively, underscoring the effectiveness of Qualcomm’s diversified business strategy. Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, emphasized the company’s strong performance with record QCT revenues in fiscal 2025. Despite speculations about an important Android customer considering using more of its own modem components, Qualcomm remains confident in its position within the premium Android sector. Amon highlighted the solid partnership with Samsung, as Qualcomm secured a full share of chips for its Galaxy S25 range while Samsung designated Exynos chips for other models like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy S25 FE. Looking ahead to the Galaxy S26 series set to launch in early 2026, Qualcomm anticipates capturing at least a 75% market share and expects certain regions to incorporate an upcoming Exynos chip. While there are predictions that Apple may eventually shift away from using Qualcomm’s products due to its development of an internal modem, Qualcomm continues to exhibit faith in its stronghold across Android and various device platforms. The growth in IoT segment can be attributed to the rising popularity of smart glasses, especially following Meta’s recent product lineup release. Amon highlighted this emerging trend as witnessing rapid expansion driven by high demand for smart glasses from Meta. With the rollout of devices featuring its latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, Qualcomm foresees a promising fiscal Q1 performance. This powerful chipset offers enhanced performance capabilities across CPU, GPU, and NPU segments, paving the way for new applications as Qualcomm collaborates with Google towards building an interconnected ecosystem of AI-driven devices that deliver seamless experiences.
