On August 24th, the anticipated 10th test flight of SpaceX’s Starship launch vehicle was canceled due to technical difficulties. The launch, originally scheduled for around 6:30 p.m. at the Boca Chica facility in Texas, would have marked the fourth Starship launch this year. Starship is currently the largest rocket on Earth and serves as the successor to SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets.
In an announcement made on X, the company explained that they were postponing the Starship’s tenth flight to address a ground systems issue. Previous attempts to test the Starship faced challenges – Flight 9 in June resulted in an explosion during preflight procedures, Flight 8 lost communication shortly after liftoff on March 6, and Flight 7 exploded shortly after launch.
Earlier that day, SpaceX successfully launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying 5,000 pounds of cargo for the International Space Station. This mission marked the 50th Dragon capsule mission to the ISS and the 33rd resupply mission to the station. The first stage of the rocket landed on the drone ship A Shortfall of Gravitas.
